Repetitive patterns, powerful harmonies, tunes full of rhythmic drive… These are typical characteristics of minimal music as it developed in the US and England in the late 1960s.

In connection with the new production of the opera Satyagraha, we will present four string players from the HERMESensemble who will not only place Philip Glass – one of the American heavyweights of minimal music – in the spotlight, but they will also look across the Atlantic Ocean to composers who, inspired by religious impulses, pursued radical simplicity in their music: Arvo Pärt and Henryk Górecki. Crafting unique sonic universes from the elementary building blocks of music, they draw listeners into an intense and emotional experience. Highly recommended!
