Ana Carolina Quaresma is born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). She studied at the State Ballet School Maria Olenewa, and at the age of 14 she was invited to join the Teatro Municipal in Brazil. Then, at sixteen, she got a scholarship for the famous John Cranko School in Stuttgart (Germany). In 1993 she joined the Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydée. Later on she started at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a soloist. Inspired by the works of Heinz Spoerli she moved on to become a principal dancer at the Ballett Zürich (Switzerland). In 2009, she joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders as a first soloist.
