Brigitte Reiffenstuel

The German costume designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel studied at the College of Fashion and the St. Martin's School of Art in London.

Brigitte Reiffenstuel worked with directors such as David Alden, Jean-Claude Auvray, Inga Levant, David McVicar, Charles Edwards and Stephen Medcalf. She designed costumes for Tosca and La Damnation de Faust, both at the English National Opera, Il Trovatore with Opera North and Opera Ireland, The Makropoulos Case, Macbeth and Billy Budd for the Lyric Opera of Chicago; Tamerlano for Komische Oper Berlin, Werther at the New Israeli Opera and the Wexford Festival, Salome and Boris Godunov at the Stuttgart State Theater, Eugene Onegin in Mannheim, Three Sisters (Eötvös) for the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Elektra at Covent Garden. She designed the costumes for Semele at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Faust in Covent Garden, both productions directed by David McVicar. During the 2003-2004 season, she designed the costumes for Parsifal at the Opera of Graz. Furthermore, she designed costumes for Don Carlos, Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Faust, and Il Trovatore, all directed by David McVicar. She also designed the costumes for Madama Butterfly, directed by Lee Blakeley. She worked already with David Alden for Lulu at the Bavarian State Opera Munich and Lucia di Lammermoor at English National Opera.
