Claudia Ortiz Arraiza
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Claudia Ortiz Arraiza trained at Balleteatro Infantil de Nana Hudo and Conservatorio de Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico. At sixteen, she joined Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico. In 2010, she moved to Germany and worked with Bayerisches Staatsballett and Hessisches Staatsballett. Her contemporary dance repertoire includes pieces by Nacho Duato, Jiří Kylián, Russell Maliphant, Alexander Ekman and Itzik Galili. As an independent artist, she was a member of Donlon Dance Collective and founding member of Richard Siegal’s Ballet of Difference. She was a guest artist at Schauspiel Köln, where she has crossed over to theater in several productions and at Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, where she has recently performed in Kontakthof and Orpheus und Eurydike, by the late Pina Bausch. Claudia Ortiz Arraiza has a B.A. in Art History and is completing an M.A. in Arts and Cultural Management. She regularly works as a choreographer and performer on various film projects. Since 2023, she is a dancer in the company of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.
