Jermaine Maurice Spivey

Jermaine Maurice Spivey was born in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) and is a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts and The Juilliard School (NYC). From 2002 to 2017, he lived and worked primarily in Europe. He was a member of Ballet Gulbenkian and Cullberg Ballet, worked as a freelance guest artist for the Hofesh Shechter Company, Robyn Live 2016, The LID, Arias Company and The Forsythe Company from 2013 to 2015. Since 2008, Spivey has been a member of Crystal Pite’s company Kidd Pivot. He has assisted and staged her work for companies such as Cedar Lake Ballet, Carte Blanche, Hessisches StaatsBallett Wiesbaden, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris. In recent years, Jermaine Spivey has worked steadily as a choreographer on an already impressive body of work, creating for such major companies as Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Nederlands Dans Theater and Sacramento Ballet. Since the 2022-2023 season, Jermaine Maurice Spivey has been an associate artist with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.
