Louis Thuriot
Dancer
The Belgian dancer Louis Thuriot started his dance training in 2012 at the Kunsthumaniora Brussels and continued his dance training at Codarts Rotterdam as a contemporary dance major. Thuriot also took steps as a choreographer during his studies. For example, he created the performance Balance that was shown at the Holland Dance Festival in 2017 and, due to its success, also performed in Antwerp, Germany and Brazil. After Thuriot graduated in 2018, he was engaged as an intern at Poetic Disaster Club - Club Guy and Roni in Groningen and Stettheimer became a member of Staatstheater Mainz at the start of the 2018-2019 season, where he danced in performances such as Freiheit in a choreography by Guy Weizman and Roni Haver, Soul Chain by Sharon Eyal and Popcorn by Andreas Denk. Thuriot won first prize in the Solo category at the Brussels International Contemporary Dance Contest, second prize at the International Solo Dance Theater Festival in Stuttgart and a grant from the Jiří Kylián Foundation. From the 2022-2023 season, Thuriot will be dancing with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. Here, he will draw upon his versatility as a performer by dancing with the role of the soldier in the video projection by Tabea Rotfuchs for the opera Ernani, directed by Barbora Horáková Joly. He also danced in the world premiering creation Futur proche by Jan Martens, Satyagraha by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Extant by Jermaine Maurice Spivey.
