Morgan Lugo
Morgan Lugo was born in Wilmington, North Carolina (USA). There, he began his dance training in clogging and won gold and silver medals at the Junior Olympics. He continued his studies at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts and SUNY Purchase College in New York. In 2012 he was invited to the L.A. Dance Project led by Benjamin Millepied. There, he danced works by choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Emanuel Gat, Justin Peck, Roy Assaf and Ohad Naharin for five years. One of his favourite L.A. experiences was working with Oscar-winning director Alejandro Iñárritu on a dance short film. In 2013 he participated in Boris Charmatz' 20 Dancers for the XX Century at the MoMA in NYC. In addition to his activities as a dancer, Lugo is also active as a photographer. His work has been exhibited at the Leica Gallery (Los Angeles) and the Parc des Ateliers (Arles), among others. He has been dancing with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen since the 2017-'18 season, where he could be seen as Albrecht in Akram Khan’s Giselle, the Prince in Alan Lucien Øyen's Rusalka (2019), in Alain Platel’s C(h)oeurs 2022 and in Half Life by Sharon Eyal, amongst others.
