Nicola Leahey

Australian dancer Nicola Leahey graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2009. After her studies, she joined Queensland-based dance company Dancenorth. She then moved to Belgium in 2011 to work with choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, dancing in his productions such as Puz/zle for the premiere at Festival D’Avignon, the dance performance Icon in collaboration with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Nicholas Lens’ opera Shell Shock. A Requiem of War at the Philharmonie de Paris, Nomad and the duet Faun, which she also taught to dancers from OBV and from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. She has also collaborated with choreographers and companies such as Damien Jalet, Kōhei Nawa, Stephanie Lake, Ross McCormack, Lauren Langlois and Compagnie Thor. Leahey can also be seen in the music video Valtari by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. She has been part of the OBV company since the 2021-2022 season, where she has danced in Cherkaoui's Noetic and Jan Martens’ Futur proche in 2022.
