Emmi Pennanen was born in Finland in 1990. She studied for 2 years at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School in Austria and continued her training at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School from 2002 until 2008. Then she moved to the United States for a year to dance with the Boston Ballet Trainee Program. In 2009, she began at the Finnish National Ballet and stayed there until 2015. After this, she started at the Royal Ballet of Flanders. She danced in pieces such as Romeo and Juliet by John Cranko, Coppelia and Swan Lake. Emmi also won some awards: she won first prize at the Nordic Ballet Competition in Falun, Sweden (2010) and the Finnish National Ballet Competition in Kerava, Finland (2010).
