Mikio Kato was born in Japan in 1996. From 2001 until 2014 he studied dance in Japan and from 2011 until 2014 he studied at the Academy princess grace in Monte-Carlo. In 2014 he joined Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. There he danced pieces such as Benvolio from Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and Cinderella, all adapted by Jean-Christophe Maillot. In 2013 he already worked with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui on his peace In Memoriam. Mikio also won some awards. He won the Gold medal at the Youth America Grand Prix semi final in Japan in 2011 and was also a winner of Prix de Lausanne in 2014. In 2016, he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders as a member of the corps de ballet.
