Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is one of the few choreographers who makes a close study of the complexity and subtlety of contemporary music. Vortex Temporum, a late work by the French composer Gérard Grisey, has fascinated her for more than a decade. Rosas dancers and Ictus musicians join forces in a joint search for various forms of temporal experience.
De Keersmaeker explores how time contracts and expands, swirls and splits into a choreographic counterpoint of sounds, musicians’ gestures, dancers’ movements and spatial dynamics.
‘Seldom have we seen a work of such finesse and beauty. Not even from Rosas. This is simply in a class of its own.’ De Morgen newspaper
