Two orchestras, one large opera chorus, a panoply of soloists, 2 conductors, the entire corps de ballet, a large stage, a small army of technicians and an ever-growing field of folding chairs: for the kick-off of the classical music season in Antwerp, they pull out all the stops.
Saturday 3 September 8.30 p.m.
While ballet fans have to be ever quicker before seats in the theatre sell out, Royal Ballet Flanders offers a sublime sampling of their repertoire live on a city square: established choreographies or works in progress, anything goes.
Sunday 4 September 11.30 a.m.
An impressive aperitif concert, with musical highlights from the new opera and ballet season. A first-rate orchestra, a superb opera chorus and a whole array of top soloists – for you, the audience, we’ll stop at nothing. This top class team conducted by Jan Schweiger will take you in no time through the entire season so that you can already pick out which productions you won't want to miss onstage.
On Sunday evening, we will hand over the stage on the square to our colleagues from deFilharmonie.
