A Ceremony of Carols, opus 28 by Benjamin Britten & Een Kerstverhaal (premiere) by Kurt Bikkembergs; Panis Angelicus by César Franck

The Opera Vlaanderen Children's Chorus is involved in various opera productions throughout the season, but this enthusiastic group of young singers has also developed a strong reputation on the concert stage, performing the major vocal-orchestral repertoire with Brussels Philharmonic, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and Casco Phil, among others.

At Christmas time, our Children's Chorus will take centre stage. The pièce de résistance will be A Ceremony of Carols (1942) by Benjamin Britten, based on Middle English texts about Christmas from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Kurt Bikkembergs, a leading light in the Flemish choral world and former chorus director at Opera Vlaanderen, will be celebrating the birth of a new work, a special commission written especially for our young vocalists.
