Koyaanisqatsi is a wordless film created by Godfrey Reggio in the 1980s that depicts the frenetic pace of contemporary modern life. Nearly 40 years later, the film has lost nothing of its visionary power.
Life out of Balance, as the film is subtitled, is a visual tone poem which, more effectively than spoken language, expresses the overwrought, overextended age in which we live. Burn out times, here we come! Thanks to Glass' film score, this film also became a gripping auditory experience.
This film music was also a breakthrough for Glass towards a wider audience. A unique opportunity to (re)watch the film in a screening in the main theatre at Opera Gent.
