During the final week of April, as a part of the Opera 21 festival around contemporary music theatre, Les Bienveillantes will see its premiere. The piece is named after the controversial book by Jonathan Littell, that was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 2006. With composer Hèctor Parra, librettist Händl Klaus and director Calixto Bieito, who have successfully collaborated on an opera before, it is sure to be a thrilling experience.

On Sunday April 7th, Opera Vlaanderen focuses on Littell's book Les Bienveillantes and Parra's new creation. We are bringing the artistic team together with different speakers in a round table discussion. Joining us are Christoph Busch, director of the Kazerne Dossin museum and expert on crime behavior, and writers Johan de Boose and Jeroen Olyslaegers. We finish this event with a recital by Charlotte Wajnberg, laureat in the 2018 Queen Elisabeth Competition and winner of the Klara Audience Award, accompanied by her husband Aaron Wajnberg. They will bring repertoire from composers out of Theresienstadt.
