“Musicians and dancers: ‘conductors’ of rhythms and lines, harmonies and dissonances, choreographed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, so that the music within us is preserved as a movement", said the French dance critic Jean-Marc Adolphe in his critique of the 1990 work Achterland. The performance is a turning point in De Keersmaeker’s work: for the first time, musicians assume a central and active role on stage. After thirty years, a young generation of dancers and musicians take their turn in this rich and universal dance piece.
