In his new creation, Jan Martens, a choreographer with a love for the small, everyday and intimate things in life, takes on a large-scale venue for the first time. On stage you will see a heterogeneous and intergenerational group of dancers from 15 to 68 years old. Individuals find and reinforce each other, thus forming an irreversible force.
With this new creation, Martens wants to zoom in on those moments in which an individual or the group goes against the flow, or searches in the margins. The soundtrack is wide-ranging, including protest songs from various eras. Moving Forward, Standing Still is an ode to civil disobedience, to rebellion and moving out of step. What happens if you decide not to fall in line?
