In deep silence - An Hommage to Wim Henderickx

On Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2022, composer Wim Henderickx passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 at his home. His importance to the Flemish and international music scene is immeasurable. His relationship with our house was also particularly special. Over the years, he composed Achilleus (a youth opera), Requiem (his adaptation of Fauré for the performance of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui) and recently De Bekeerlinge, his large opera that premiered this spring. Always noteworthy was Wim's openness: for other musical influences, for new audiences, for other opinions... But he was also primarily warmth, energy, passion: a composer and a person out of a thousand who inspired an entire generation of musicians and brought contemporary classical music closer to people like no one else. That's what he lived for, that's what he continued to make plans for.
