Rizoom!
Iris Bouche - Kobe Proesmans
Opera and pop are mixed in a colourful family performance about coping with loss: of your childhood, your favourite plush toy, your job or a loved one.
In the family performance Rizoom! a diverse community of dancers and musicians attempts to give a place and shape to loss. What if you lose yourself in a feeling, or if you lose your favourite plush toy, your job or even a loved one? Everyone will have to deal with it sooner or later, although we all respond differently. Fortunately, there are many customs and symbols that we can fall back upon. But how does the group of performers react if someone does not want to participate in their collective ritual? What happens when you question traditions? The entire performance reads like a rhizome: a nice word for a complex of roots that constantly branches out, grows in other directions or enters into new connections. For example, choreographer Iris Bouche draws inspiration from all kinds of ceremonies, taking patterns from folk dancing and interweaves all this into contemporary dance. Kobe Proesmans and Aarich Jespers also link the worlds of Opera and Pop music for their brand-new compositions, performed by The Colorist Orchestra.
