In the opera house in Ghent, visitors are often amazed by the rich interior: the magnificent chandelier, the horseshoe shape of the auditorium and the three richly decorated salons (they don't even have those in Versailles!), bear witness to an unprecedented grandeur. In the Antwerp Opera, it's the beautiful ceiling paintings, the special acoustics and the grand side stage that always impress.
Behind the productions on our stages lies a whole mechanism. Our artists rehearse for several weeks before the premiere, and our workshops work hard on sets, costumes, and props. During tours, we explain in detail how opera and ballet are created. And what are opera and ballet, actually? Of course, you will also get a glimpse of our impressive halls and learn more about the history of our buildings.
