HOW CAN YOU BUY A TICKET?

At www.operaballet.be, you can easily purchase a ticket. Prices vary depending on the day, the type of performance, and your seat, but there’s a spot for every budget, with tickets starting at 15 euros. To better align demand with availability, we use dynamic ticket pricing, meaning the price of individual tickets can vary throughout the season based on demand. We also offer many discounted rates. If you’d like personal advice on the program (for example, about which performances are suitable for children) or assistance with purchasing tickets, contact our box office team. Want to bundle multiple performances? We offer small and large subscriptions in various options. Feel free to send us a message via Facebook or Instagram.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A PERFORMANCE?

A few days before the performance, you will receive an email from us with your ticket details, practical information about your visit, and background information about the production.

Some people prefer to enjoy a performance without any prior knowledge, while others like to prepare by using text materials and audio introductions we offer for free on the website, magazine, social media, or in the program book. The beautifully designed program book provides both a brief 'entry' to guide you through the material, and longer reflections on the themes the production focuses on.

If you wish, you can attend a free introduction 60 minutes before most performances: the ideal last-minute preparation. You will also receive up-to-date info in the performance email sent to you in advance.

USEFUL TO KNOW

  • There is no dress code. The days of attending the opera in rustling ball gowns or tuxedos are long past. Festive, fashionable, or casual: whatever you wear, we think you look radiant!
  • Check the start time of the performance in advance. If you arrive half an hour early, you will have enough time to calmly hang up your coat and find your seat. Once the performance has started, the doors to the auditorium will be closed.
  • For fire safety and the comfort of our visitors, we ask you to leave coats, umbrellas, backpacks, etc., in the cloakroom. The auditorium staff will ensure your items are safe and that you can quickly retrieve them after the performance.
  • You can have a drink before and after the performance in the foyers. The bar is also open during the intermission. Payments can be made with your bank card. Want to eat something before the performance? You can visit one of the many restaurants and bars near the opera houses in Antwerp and Ghent. For a small appetite, we offer some snacks in our foyers.
  • Would you like more information about upcoming performances? Don’t forget to pick up a free copy of the OBV magazine during your visit.
  • Would you like to peek inside the auditorium in advance? Both opera houses regularly organize guided tours. It’s best to book in advance, as spaces are limited.
  • Smoking, eating, and drinking in the auditorium are not allowed. Photography or filming during performances is also prohibited. You can read our house rules on our website.
