Guided tours
Behind the productions that can be seen on our stages lies an entire machinery: our artists rehearse hard while the workshops are busy working on sets, props, and costumes. During a tour, we explain how all of this comes together to create opera and ballet. Additionally, you can take a look at the impressive halls and learn more about the history. Starting this season, you can also book a tour that focuses on the technical aspects of presenting opera and ballet.
Through an interactive tour, we unveil the mystery of the busy beehive that is Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. During the journey, both in front of and behind the scenes, contemporary stories are featured. Together, we explore the creative processes that make Opera Ballet Vlaanderen an inspiring house inhabited by passionate staff.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look
Starting from the 3rd kindergarten class. For kindergarten, primary, secondary, DKO, higher education, NT2, and OKAN
For OKAN and NT2 classes (waystage/level 2), we organize tours to practice Dutch outside the school context. We are happy to hear stories about your family and what you did in the past. We look for connections: perhaps through the professions we encounter in our workshops, or through music, dance, rituals... Together with the teacher, we explore how the house operates and, above all, let you speak.

The Production Process Unraveled
What isn't always visible to the audience, we reveal through this technical tour. Together with the technical colleagues, we unravel an ongoing production. From which design did they start, who is involved in creating sets, props, costumes, wigs...? Discover the specialized techniques behind the scenes: the fly system where the sets are hung, the light towers where the spots shine, the dessous or the area below the stage. Suitable from the 1st grade of secondary education, for secondary and higher education.

Tours for Groups (Companies, etc.)
Explore the opera in Ghent, Antwerp, or the ballet at 't Eilandje in Antwerp during an interactive tour where the mystery of OBV is revealed, and the creative processes that make it an inspiring house are explored, along with contemporary stories.
The tours are available for groups of up to 25 people per guide and take place at Opera Antwerp, Opera Ghent, or Theater 't Eilandje. They last approximately 75 minutes.
