Guided tours
Behind the productions that can be seen on our stages lies an entire machinery: our artists rehearse hard while the workshops are busy working on sets, props, and costumes. During a tour, we explain how all of this comes together to create opera and ballet. Additionally, you can take a look at the impressive halls and learn more about the history. Starting this season, you can also book a tour that focuses on the technical aspects of presenting opera and ballet.

What is opera or ballet? Who contributes to a performance? Together with a guide, students take a look in front of and behind the scenes of our organization and discover how many puzzle pieces make up such a total artwork.

The production process unraveled
What is not always visible to the audience, we expose with this technical tour. Together with our technical colleagues, we unravel a current production. What design did they start from, who is involved in creating the set, props, costumes, wigs...? Discover the specialized techniques behind the scenes: the fly system where the sets hang, the light towers where the spotlights shine, the dessous or the area under the stage. Suitable from the first grade of secondary education, for secondary and higher education.

Guided tours for groups (companies, etc.)
Explore the opera in Ghent, Antwerp, or the ballet at 't Eilandje in Antwerp during an interactive tour where the mystery of OBV is revealed and the creative processes that make it an inspiring house are examined, along with stories from past and present.
The tours are available for groups of up to 25 people per guide and take place in Opera Antwerp, Opera Ghent, or Theater 't Eilandje. They last approximately 75 minutes.
