La Forza del Destino

This opera of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi describes the turbulent tragedy of Spanish family Calatrava. Daughter Leonora and her beloved Don Alvaro are hunted by her brother Don Carlo; he suspects Alvaro of having murdered their father. The young couple flees, away from their curse, away from the destiny pursuing them. Even religion does not provide salvation. During the ensuing bloody polemic the soloists all get to perform moving arias and stirring duets. A dark, modern opera by one of the greatest opera composers.
