Dance Day: Ombra

The annual tribute to dance across Flanders and Brussels falls this year on Saturday, April 27, 2024. As the Dance Day this year coincides with the performance series of *Ombra*, we have something very special in store. Register here.

In his latest performance Ombra, Alain Platel unites choir members, dancers, and musicians in a production where encounters are paramount. Collaboration with Bart Verheyden, a sign language coach and himself deaf, enriches the piece by converting opera arias into expressive gestures, emphasizing that even a simple gesture can carry deep meaning.

During Dance Day on Saturday, April 27, 2024, we offer you the chance to learn the gestures from *Ombra* yourself in a workshop led by assistant choreographer Bérangère Bodin. The sessions start at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, last about 50 minutes, and conclude with a short presentation in the hall, overlooking the *Ombra* scene. Suitable for all ages, no experience is required and participation is free of charge.
