Exhibition Tree Ombra

In Ombra, Alain Platel and Berlinde De Bruyckere find inspiration in the image of a tree as a universal meeting place - a spot where people worldwide and throughout the centuries gather for rest, encounter, or consultation. An impressive tree, 12 meters high and 8 meters wide, designed by Berlinde De Bruyckere, forms the heart of the decor, realized in our workshop using her characteristic wax technique. This set piece is not only an important element within the performance but also stands on its own as a work of art, bearing witness to De Bruyckere's unique style, known from exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale.

This year, De Bruyckere's new work can be seen in Venice, but enthusiasts do not need to travel to Italy to experience her work. Opera Ballet Flanders invites everyone to come and admire this extraordinary art and set piece in the opera houses of Antwerp and Ghent, free of charge and without reservation, between the performance dates.
